MEET THE AUTHOR

David A Lindon - age 39 living in Bournemouth. I am married to Jacqueline with two children James and Abigail. At home we also have two Irish Red Setters called Max and Clifford.

My first book, The Lost Children of the Namuh and the Chamber of Souls was inspired by my need to escape into my own fantasy world.  In mid 2005, I unfortunately lost my father due to cancer, and shortly after his death I took it upon myself to care for my elderly mother.  Having given up a well paid job to become a fulltime carer, I placed myself and my young family into a difficult situation.  After she came to live with us, my mother was diagnosed with advanced Vascular Dementia.  Two years on and having my mother repeatedly confuse me with Shirley Temple, a 1930's film star, I reluctantly decided to pass my duties over to a proper care home.  It was a difficult decision, but one that would enable me to enjoy what time we had left, as a son rather than a Hollywood film star.

Educated in Poole, I found myself at the age of 17 on the first rungs of a varied career, that would take me from lasers to fighter jets.  Writing has always been in my blood but I needed the right situation for it to develop.  Another reason to write the book, which sprang upon me late one night, having helped mum back into bed for the umpteenth time, was the idea of leaving something behind for future generations.

I must congratulate my children who encouraged me to complete the book, as they enthusiastically listened to my story at bedtime.  It is one thing to be excited about my own work, but when children who are easily bored, listen intently, it becomes inspiring and even more so when they start to role-play the characters for themselves.
